The pick this week is the UNION ATLAS binding in glow and the ARBOR ELEMENT.
Up until last season I’d been riding another big brand binding that had more bells and whistles than I actually needed. This year I decided to make the switch to Union. With a brand that encompasses the saying “everything you need and nothing you don’t” I definitely wanted to give them a go.
I picked the ATLAS binding to mount on my ARBOR ELEMENT. I chose this binding because it’s a little softer than the force, it comes with a stage 3 baseplate, which is super light, the 3D Multi-Layer Tapered Straps are super comfy and the multi-zone high back has no calf bite.
They have a nice consistent flex, a real solid binding for a variety of different riding styles.
I went for the glow colour-way which is super neat as it lights up in the the dark, perfect for those dark ride outs!
Here is my review on the board…
Board : ARBOR ELEMENT RX 55
Camber : The Mountain System – true parabolic rocker
Bindings : Union – Atlas Bindings
My Weight : 180 lbs
Resort : Sunshine Village
Days on the board so far : 8
Conditions : Pow to Hardpack
Flex : Mid Stiff
Stability : The all mountain rocker paired with the grip-tech works really well, the board feels solid under foot with zero twitchy-ness
even at high speeds it holds a real strong edge.
Butter-ability : The board butters nicely, it feels a little softer in the tip and tail.. along with the rocker its real easy to press, bonk and slash.
Jibbing : Great for jibbing around the mountain the mid-flex is just about right.
Cruising the hill : Great versatility, it can easily switch from pow to park with no worries, this board can do it all. The wood powerply top sheet gives the board a nice snap.
Rider in mind : Someone who wants 1 board that does everything well.
My thoughts : I’d have to say this was probably one of the best boards I’ve ridden in a long time, it does everything with ease, handles all types of snow and terrain.
